T-Pain is taking Akon’s Konvict Entertainment back to court, claiming the label owes him $489,047 in royalties. The entertainer, whose real name is Faheem Rasheed Najm, filed the lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court. He alleges that Konvict violated his 2005 recording agreement and a 2025 settlement. Akon is not named as a defendant in the case. Instead, the complaint targets the label over royalties tied to recordings sold during late 2025. According to the lawsuit, Konvict received more than $1.3 million from a distributor in late March. T-Pain says his agreement entitles him to 75 percent of Konvict’s net royalties. Konvict subsequently paid T-Pain $489,047 in early June. The singer claims the payment covered only half of what he was owed. The remaining money allegedly became tangled in a payment involving BuVision, a Konvict affiliate. T-Pain says Konvict directed representatives to pursue the outstanding royalties from BuVision. T-Pain Files Another Lawsuit Against Akon’s Konvict Entertainment For Unpaid Royalties Those efforts allegedly failed to recover the balance. T-Pain’s attorneys then notified Konvict that the company had breached its contractual obligations. The lawsuit claims Konvict failed to remedy the alleged breach after receiving written notice. The dispute traces back to T-Pain’s 2005 signing with Konvict. He previously sued the label over royalty and payment issues connected to their recording agreement. The parties eventually entered mediation and reached a $114,000 settlement in 2025. That agreement covered royalties collected through the end of 2024. The latest lawsuit concerns royalties generated during the second half of 2025. It marks another chapter in a business relationship that helped launch T-Pain’s career. The legal fight arrives as T-Pain remains deeply engaged with music’s evolving landscape. Pharrell Williams recently challenged the hitmaker to “save R&B.” The “I’m Sprung” hitmaker helped redefine mainstream R&B and hip-hop during the 2000s. Timothy “Buc Wild” Joseph, the former Hot 97 radio host who co-starred on the legendary “Star & Buc Wild” show, has died at 47. Carmen Bryan is accusing hip-hop star N.O.R.E. of sexually assaulting her at a Manhattan nightclub in 1999. Bryan, the former partner of hip-hop star Nas, filed a lawsuit against N.O.R.E., whose legal name is Victor Santiago. Rolling Stone obtained a copy of the complaint. Bryan alleges Santiago approached her while visibly intoxicated. She claims he then committed “an act of nonconsensual digital penetration” in front of her friends. She alleges Santiago followed her outside before recognizing her as Nas’ partner. “Carm, I didn’t know it was you,” Santiago allegedly said, according to the complaint. “You’re always doing something different with your hair.” Bryan says she later told Jay-Z about the alleged encounter. She described the rapper as a trusted confidante during their yearslong relationship. Hip-Hop Star N.O.R.E. Sued By Nas’ Baby Mama Carmen Bryan For Sexual Assault The lawsuit also claims the culture surrounding hip-hop in the 1990s contributed to Bryan remaining silent. He has not been found liable in connection with Bryan’s claims. The lawsuit offers Bryan’s account of an alleged encounter more than two decades ago.
